St. Thomas of Hereford, Weobley
Whether you are a visitor or have recently moved to the area, please make yourself known to the Parish Priest, Father Simon McGurk, after Mass. If you will be living in the Parish, please fill in a form with your name and address.
Going to Communion
As the church is so small, it is a great help if everyone observes the following procedures when going to Holy Communion. Those in the pews on the right-hand side of the church go first, starting from the front, followed by those on the left-hand side of the church, beginning at the back. It makes it easier if people keep to the left of the aisle when going up and to the window side of the aisle when returning.
Non-communicants are very welcome to go up for a blessing. Crossing the arms across the chest will indicate to the priest that you would like this.
Children
There is a box of soft toys and another of bible stories and prayer books on the shelves at the back of the church, along with some colouring pages and coloured pencils. Children are very welcome to borrow these during Mass.
Toilet
There is a toilet in the presbytery. To find it, turn right through the Sacristy, pass through the utility room and go up the stairs. You will find the toilet immediately on your right.
Socialising
To your left are the Parish rooms, where tea and coffee are available after Sunday Mass. We do hope you will stay and join us.
Donations
Instead of a collection being taken during the Offertory, you will find a plate for donations at the back of the church. If you are a tax- payer, it is an enormous help to the parish if you gift aid your donations. Visitors can do this by using the special form provided on the entrance table. Many parishioners now give by Standing Order and we are extremely grateful for this.
Mass Times
Sunday: 10.30 am, Monday & Tuesday: 10.00am, Friday: 4.00pm and Holy Days of Obligation: 4.00pm. Please see the Calendar for further details of weekly Masses.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on request. Please contact the Parish Priest, Fr. Simon, to arrange this.
St. Bede the Venerable, Kington
Whether you are a visitor, or have recently moved into the area, you will receive a warm welcome at St. Bede’s. We are a small, but growing congregation, which includes several families from Kerala, South India.
Mass Times
Saturday evening – 6pm
Wednesday – 10.30am
Holy Days of Obligation – 12 noon.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on request. Please contact the Parish Priest, Fr. Simon, to arrange this.
Donations
There is a donation plate at the back of the Church for offertory donations.
Children
Children are most welcome at St. Bede’s and there is a box of small toys and books at the back of the Church. Mrs. Sarah Nichols is our Catechist and is very happy to prepare children for the Sacraments.
Toilet
There is a toilet available in the Sacristy.
Parish Advisory Council (PAC)
The current Parish Advisory Council minutes are displayed at the back of the Church and previous minutes can be found in the PAC folder.
Dates of meetings will be posted on the Parish website. If you have anything you wish to be discussed at the next meeting, please contact a PAC member who will be happy to add your item to the agenda. PAC members can be found on the website at: www.thomasandbede.com
Getting Involved
There are opportunities within both Parishes to get involved in a variety of ministries and activities. We welcome help with all aspects of the Liturgy. If you would like to become a Reader at Mass, a Welcomer or a Eucharistic Minister, or get involved in the Parish community, please speak to the Parish Priest, Fr. Simon.
We are also grateful for offers of help with practical matters such as counting the collection or cleaning the church and doing the flowers. As mentioned, there is a Parish Advisory Council, elected by parishioners, to aid the Parish Priest in the running of the Parish.
Whether you are here for a few days or planning to stay many years, we hope you will have a happy time as part of our community.
